Krążki przeciwodleżynowe powinny być stosowane głównie profilaktycznie zapobiegając powstawaniu odleżyn oraz przy ich leczeniu. Otwór w środku krążka zapewnia stały dostęp powietrza do zagrożonej odleżynami powierzchni skóry. Większe rozmiary krążków są stosowane w celu odciążenia kości ogonowej pacjenta.
